GMA Warbird Event
Along with the many fine fighter type warbirds, we would have to consider Mac Hodges participation with his big B-29 a great big factor.  Mac and Dan Stevens arrived Saturday afternoon and we were treated to a great performance that afternoon.  Dan is the builder of the B-29 and the X1 Rocket.  Dan flies the X1, which is dropped from the B-29.  Words can not describe this performance.  GMA member Stan Mack has put together about a 40 minute DVD video of this event, including the B-29 flight.  Stan is offering this DVD for $15.  If interested, you can grab his phone number or e-mail address off the club web pages.

Apparently the paperwork for the warbird event itself has fallen through the cracks and are not available to recognize the many fine airplanes and pilots.

Wild Turkey Rumble Combat
This event is scheduled for the Friday after Thanksgiving, November 25th.  CD Frank Neubert promises a great Open B Combat event.

Georgia Jets Super South Event
There is, or was an annual Superman Jet event scheduled in Illinois.  Unfortunately, it got cancelled.  Gordon Dickens put together this Super South event in about 12 days, held from September 28 thru October 2 at his field in Meriweather County.  There were 55 registered pilots putting on a great show.  For pictures and videos from this event click here.

Driving On Runway Or Grass
Please be mindful not to drive on the grass runway or the paved runway.  It is evident that someone has been driving across the Bermuda runway and up and down the paved landing strip.  The runways are not designed for vehicle use and driving across them leaves ruts.  These ruts make for rough landings.  If you must drive out into the field, take the access road off the left as you enter the club drive.  From the access road you can drive into the field to retrieve downed planes or equipment.

Thanks To Many Helpers
Since joining the club last May, J.D. Sweat and his grandson, Ray Sweat, have become avid and frequent flyers.  And for those of you that haven't met them yet, Ray is the young man in the wheel chair.  Ray needs help when flying, primarily in case the plane should wind up behind his line of sight.  The folks that have jumped in to help Ray deserve a GREAT BIG PAT ON THE BACK.  Thanks to A.J. Rivers, Ben Adams, Dean Ellis, Craig Turner, Bruce Chambers, Art Neto, Chris Dover, Mike Hopkins.

October Happenings
Ray Sweat
put it all together on October 30th.  From takeoff to landing Ray did a complete flight with Dean Ellis standing by to assist if necessary... it wasn't necessary.  Congratulations Ray on your birthday.  And thanks to all the Sweat family for including us all in your hamburger and hot dog birthday feast.  The picture below shows J.D. Sweat, Ray's Grandfather on the left and Dean Ellis on the right.

Also observed on October 30th, Sam White's 12 year old daughter, Carson,  flying unassisted.  Congratulations to both Sam and Carson.

Old Rule, New Sign
One of the long standing safety guidelines is that we should not taxi in the pit area.  That area is designated as the space between the shelter and the safety fence.  Appropriate signs have been placed at the safety fence to help us remember.  Also, a point of safety is that only AMA members are allowed beyond the safety fence.  Yep, there's also a sign to help remind of this also.

Gas For The Cooking Grill
Looks like the grill has been getting a lot of use.  There is a fresh tank of gas in the storage room and if you should need to use it, please replace it with another spare tank.  You can take the empty tank to Wal Mart and exchange it for about $15.00.  The GMA will reimburse you.  Also, if anyone has a spare set of tongs, the long wooden handle type, they would come in handy.

Update On Mason Thompson
Earl spoke with Mason's mom on November 16th.  She says that she had to finally convince Mason to stop driving... and that he is now practically bed-ridden.  I don't know what words would be appropriate to say to Mason, but for those of you that know him, I have to believe that he would be glad to hear from you.  His address is 106 Victoria Way, Roswell, GA 30075.

In case you missed it, Doug Turner passed along a web site that provide a lot of information for the R/C World.  Some that I found interesting that answered some questions I hear asked a lot pertain to How to cycle/discharge a transmitter that contains a diode, What to consider if changing radio channels, Cycling definitions.  If you don't have Internet access, maybe you have a friend or brother that might be able to help.

Do Not Attend The Perry Model Show Next Year!
That is, don't attend the 2006 Perry, Georgia great model show and swap meet to be held on March 3rd and 4th until you first attend and participate in GMA's annual Pre-Perry Swap Meet to be held at the GMA Field on Saturday, February 25, 2006.

By participating in this Club swap meet you very well may deal your items to fellow Club members and save yourself the additional hassle of hauling all your stuff to Perry.

The swap meet is scheduled to start at 9 A.M..  Although priority will be given to using the Field tables for the swap meet, because of the limited number of such tables, bringing your own portable tables for display purposes is strongly advised.

Please remember the date: Saturday, February 25, 2006

Any questions, contact Dick Kohl.
