GMA - JULY, 2005

WOW... models are getting BIG.
This is actually
a full scale job that dropped in on July 3rd, piloted
by James... from Winder Hobbies, and elsewhere.
Pedro is going to try to convince him to come back
for a visit on Family Day - July 16.

New
member Richard Hogan is a private pilot and is building a full scale
he intends to fly. He thought it might be a good idea to try it as
a model
first. This is his prototype RA01. It is electric
powered. On his first run
down the runway, the motor stopped, the airplane lifted off, stalled,
and
the motor started again, but too late. The aircraft nosed in and
did some
damage that Richard believes will be repaired in a couple weeks.
It seems
the speed controller sensed too many amps and automatically shut the
motor off. Richard says he is changing the thrust line, installing
a taller
nose gear and will be using a larger speed controller. With a
little luck,
it may be back out on Family Day, July 16th. |

Arthur
Neto also took some video of that full scale helicopter
departing the field. A link is provided here for your
viewing. It
is a .MOV file which I believe requires Quicktime in order to
play it. To get Quick time go to:

The
movie is about 6 meg in size and if you do not have a
high speed connection, it could take quite a while to download.
